On 10 December 2025, the second EntoFARM pilot was implemented at the Vocational High School of Agriculture “BUZEMA” in Bulgaria. The visit brought together students, teachers, and the pilot team for an engaging, hands-on session where sustainability and circular thinking moved from theory into real-world practice.
Students explored mealworm farming through a series of short inputs and interactive activities. They learned how a small insect farm operates, what is required for successful rearing, and how insect-based processes can contribute to waste reduction and circular approaches in agriculture. The pilot also featured a simple learning experiment using frass—the natural by-product of insect cultivation—with plants, providing students a practical way to observe outcomes over time.
A key achievement of the day was the installation of the EntoFARM unit at the school, allowing students to continue experimenting, monitoring, and caring for the system long after the pilot session. This hands-on learning opportunity will support deeper understanding and ongoing engagement with sustainable agricultural practices.
A warm thank-you to the BUZEMA school community for their hospitality, enthusiasm, and active participation. We are excited to continue building on this important step in Bulgaria.
