EntoFARM Pilot in Volos: Learning by Doing at 1st EPAL Volou

On 2 December 2025, the first EntoFARM pilot was implemented at 1st EPAL Volou in Volos. The visit brought together students, teachers, and the pilot team for a hands-on session where sustainability and circular thinking moved from the classroom into practice.

Students explored mealworm farming through a mix of short inputs and interactive activities, including how a small insect farm works, what’s needed for rearing, and how the process can connect to waste-reduction and circular approaches. The pilot also included a simple learning experiment using frass (a by-product of insect rearing) with plants, giving students a practical way to observe outcomes over time.

A key result of the day was the installation of the EntoFARM unit at the school, enabling ongoing student involvement in monitoring, care, and learning activities beyond the pilot session.

Thank you to the school community for the warm welcome and active participation, we’re excited to build on this first step in Volos.
