EntoFARM at EPI GIS V

On May 28, 2025, the University of Patras (UPatras) proudly represented the EntoFARM project at the EPI GIS V Conference held in Ilia, Greece. The conference, a landmark event for agricultural innovation and sustainability, brought together over 100 participants and leading stakeholders in research, farming, and technology.

EntoFARM, empowers secondary school students to embrace circular economy practices through the fascinating world of insect farming.

During the session “Sustainable Food Production & Nutrition”, Associate Professor Dr. Eirini Karanastasi introduced the concept of insects as a sustainable protein source, linking it to broader environmental and educational goals. She was followed by Mr. Ioannis Markou, PhD candidate, who explored how insect-based feedstock offers far more than just protein — it’s a leap toward climate-resilient agriculture.

The audience actively engaged with the presenters, discussing the transformative potential of insect farming in waste management, food security, and green innovation. The feedback was enthusiastic, sparking new interest in biotechnology, sustainable farming, and circular economy education.

A specially designed flyer, was distributed, sharing key information and links to stay connected:

Through events like this, EntoFARM continues to inspire the next generation of eco-conscious innovators and promotes the goals of Erasmus+ in science and technology education.
